While visiting family, I ventured down to the Los Angeles Maritime Museum in San Pedro and was richly rewarded. In addition to discovering a library with excellent periodicals from early sailing days such as Sea Magazine and Pacific Coast Yachting, I also got to meet librarian/archivist Michael Cropper. Two days in a row I combed the stacks and picked Michael's knowledge of such early designers as Hugh Angelman, I. Judson Kelly, George Wayland, Jasper Morgan, the Kettenburgs, Nicholas Potter, Dair Long, and many others. I also was priviledged to meet Bill Olesen who worked with Angelman in the 30's.

I also met and recruited Thomas Skahill to be on our Editorial Board (see "About the Authors). Tom and his wife Patricia entertained me for lunch at the Newport Harbor Yacht Club - the harbor was filled with active boaters and made to seem all the more busy by fleets of children manuerving between all sizes of vessels. Tom has extensive resources and we welcome him to the board.
